Samuel Quinteros is one of two SCA alumni selected by Brad Buckley to exhibit in the annual exhibition, FINE ART / UNIVERSITY SELECTION 2015-2016, at the Tsukuba Museum of Art, Ibaraki, Japan. This exhibition is part of the Young Artist Exchange and Development project, sponsored by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs and the Faculty of Art and Design, University of Tsukuba. Exhibition dates 8 - 13 December 2015.


Elvis Richardson and Vivian Cooper Smith are finalists in The Darebin Art Prize, a biennial award for excellence in contemporary visual art at the Bundoora Homestead Art Centre, VIC. Winner announced 10 December, exhibition dates 11 December 2015 - 21 February 2016.


Heath Franco and Rochelle Haley are in the group exhibition Patternation, opening 11 December at Hazelhurst Regional Gallery. This exhibition explores the conceptual nature of pattern and its affinity with art, science, language, music and movement. Exhibition dates: 12 December 2015 - 7 February 2016.


Todd Robinson is in the group exhibition Fantastic Worlds at Rockhampton Art Gallery. This exhibition brings together the work of eleven contemporary Australian sculptors, who each pose new and strange possibilities in the world around us.





Congratulations to Heath Franco, winner of the 2015 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship (Emerging) for his multichannel video installation THE RAINBOW LANDS. The $30,000 fellowship will allow Heath to undertake a mentorship with music video creator Joel Kefali; research, create and perform new works in the United States; and deliver workshops at the Information Cultural Exchange in Parramatta. Exhibition continues at Artspace, Sydney, until 12 December.

Hayley Megan French is the winner of the CHASS Australia Student Prize for her PhD thesis See Where it Drifts: The Influence of Aboriginal Art on an Australian Ontology of Painting. Hayley will present a solo exhibition at the gallery in April 2016.





Leo Coyte is exhibiting works from his recent Mystic Misfits series at the Northern Rivers Community Gallery in Ballina, 30 September - 25 October. The exhibition coincides with the inaugural ArtLAB Project, a future biennial event for NRCG.

Elvis Richardson and Virginia Fraser are presenting FEMMO at BoxCopy in Brisbane, 3 - 31 October. Richardson and Fraser have adopted a curatorial pose to collaborate on a series of magazine covers, combining portraiture with attention-seeking headlines for a so-far fictional publication FEMMO™.

Emma Thomson's series Take Your Best Shot has been acquired by the Western Plains Cultural Centre. Emma will be hosting Portraiture photography workshops at the Art Gallery of NSW in September, bookings via AGNSW.

The gallery presented 5 artists at this year’s Sydney Contemporary Art Fair at Carriageworks - Kylie Banyard, Cherine Fahd, Nana Ohnesorge, Elvis Richardson and Vivian Cooper Smith. Vicky Browne, in collaboration with Darren Seltmann and Simon Reece, presented Conversations with plants for Installation Contemporary, and Elvis Richardson’s SLIDE SHOW LAND was screened for Video Contemporary.


Leo Coyte is a finalist in the 2015 John Fries Award. The John Fries Award is an annual non-acquisitive award of $10,000 recognising emerging and early career visual artists. Opening 4 September at UNSW Galleries, exhibition dates 5 September - 10 October.


Mason Kimber and Heath Franco are finalists in the 2015 NSW Visual Arts Fellowship. The artists will work with the curators at Artspace ahead of the finalists exhibition and winner announcement at Artspace in November.

Heath Franco is in the group exhibition Art as a Verb, opening at Artspace, Sydney, 4 June. First seen at Monash University Museum of Art in 2014, this new iteration includes additional works. Until 26 July.

Heath’s video works YOUR DOOR (2011) and HOME TOWN (2014) will be screened during the Sydney Film Festival at The Festival Hub at Sydney Town Hall, as well as a collaborative work with David Capra, Dream Sequence (2015).

Heath will also perform in Winter Wonderland, a contemporary art event on 6 June at O’Neill’s Adventureland. Curated by Megan Monte and Zanny Begg this will be a one night only experience that probes the inventive, psychedelic and unique world of the fun park.

Mason Kimber is in the group exhibition FAÇADE, curated by Sophia Kouyoumdjian and Liz Chang. Artereal Gallery, Rozelle, 1 April - 2 May, 2015. Mason is also in the group exhibition Roman Remains, at Transition Gallery, London. Exhibition dates 18 April – 17 May, 2015.


Congratulations to Hayley Megan French and Samuel Quinteros who are both recipients of a 2015 Marten Bequest Travelling Scholarship. Each scholarship is worth $20,000, to support the activities to further artistic careers. Hayley will undertake a research trip to Warmun Art Centre and the East Kimberley Region in Western Australia. Samuel will initially base himself in Belgium, followed by a three month artist residency at 3331 Arts Chiyoda in Tokyo.


Kylie Banyard is featured in the current issue Artist Profile magazine. The gallery will be presenting a new series of Kylie’s works at this year’s Sydney Contemporary at Carriageworks in September.


Vivian Cooper Smith’s photographic series And yet, but for these flowers is currently on view at the Yarra City Public Art Light Boxes at the Carlton Library. The images of flowers that make up this series were photographed in the gardens and public spaces surrounding the library.


Heath Franco is in the group exhibition Che Cosa, curated by David Capra, at Wollongong Art Gallery. The exhibition is a collection of contemporary artists considering ideas around Italian culture. Until 31 May.
