Adrian Hobbs has developed a new body of paintings that stems from the same conceptual concerns of his previous work, though it could not be more different. His extensive research into the historic, scientific, and philosophical qualifications of Chaos has lead him to identify a sub-set of tenets that underpin its definition in all three disciplines. By taking these tenets and applying them through a ‘literal’ visual strategy he has conceived a series of ‘object paintings’ that attempt to illustrate the ubiquitous and multiple, but contradictory and unknowable elements that comprise Chaos.
