Redaction describes the act of reassembling multiple texts into one, singularising multiple messages and viewpoints. Utilising commercial production methods, the mixed media works in Redaction remove commonplace materials, language and forms from their original contexts and remake them in the gallery environment. By commingling disparate facets of the everyday, Foulkes undermines the processes and conventions that design leans on to remain intelligible, resulting in an alternative, and sometimes bizarre reflection of our graphic landscape.
