Verso is a new exhibition that continues Pither’s investigation into what gardens, landscape or their subjects or documents can be, as painting. The exhibition reinterprets the artist’s 2013 project, Reverse Garden, originally commissioned by Heide Museum of Modern Art, Melbourne, and curated by Kendrah Morgan.
Verso explores intimate relationships to gardening and landscape through examining both the physical habitation and topographic design of gardens and their materiality. The exhibition considers the processes of our experience and occupation within gardens, landscape and viewing. The works are an interplay between experience and comprehension, of paradox, the glimpse, and our glinting moment within it.
